There’s a piece of my life
Hanging there for all to see
It tells a tale of who we were
And who we’re yet to be
Suspended by a weight
But free to move around
It waits for you to take a glance
But never makes a sound
A metaphor from another shore
The answers we’re all looking for
(take a look if you’re not sure)
Are hanging there on my fridge door
On the door of my fridge
You can see the pieces
On the door of my fridge
There’s no empty space
Instrumental:
A picture done at school
A postcard from a friend
A thousand different bills
A song that never ends
A calling card from the selling hard
A post it note with a blob of lard
That number that you can’t discard
By the door to my back yard
On the door of my fridge
You can see the pieces
On the door of my fridge
There’s no empty space
On the door of my fridge
You can see the pieces
On the door of my fridge
There’s no empty space
On the door of my fridge
My current fridge door!
I was day dreaming one day, gazing around the kitchen. My eyes fell on the fridge door and it made me smile to see all the stuff that we'd stuck on there with magnets ("..suspended by a weight but free to move around..."). There were pictures of holidays and postcards from friends, pictures the kids had done at school, and other things from the past. But also numbers and cards of people we needed to call, notes to self and other things to not forget to do in the future...
The fridge door is a good notice board and really tells parts of the tales of our lives in many ways.
Take a look at your fridge door and see what you've put there :)
