There's a hole in my head where the words come out
And it sometimes digs a hole for itself
No matter how hard I try I find
I'm wishing that I'd said something else to You
So don't always take me at my word
'Cause sometimes I'm talking to my past
And I've only got four teeth
I could say what you want me to say
If I knew what it was at the time
But I'm just a normal guy you know
Trying too hard to be anything but
So don't always take me at my word
'Cause sometimes I'm talking to my past
So don't always take me at my word
'Cause sometimes I'm talking to my past
And I've only got four teeth
Instrumental
So don't always take me at my word
'Cause sometimes I'm talking to my past
So don't always take me at my word
'Cause sometimes I'm talking to my past
And I've only got four teeth
I've only got four teeth
I've only got four teeth
I've only got four teeth
This is an ode to my partner at the time. It sometimes felt like I only had a few teeth in my head so I couldn't pronounce words properly or something.
Anyway, I was misheard, or said the wrong thing, or was misunderstood, or failed to communicate in the best way...
I'm sure we've all been there at some time or other, hitting an impass between what was said or meant and what was heard or understood, it can be very frustrating!
It can really feel like you've only got four teeth!
And interestingly, we do all only have four (types) of teeth, so there's a bit of a play on words too ;)
