Write it down
Before it’s lost forever
Share it now while you still can
Make it real
The way you need to be
And feel inside
Yeah I should have told her how I felt inside
Cos now I hurt more, yes I hurt more than my foolish pride
Chorus:
It’s all on little scraps of paper
Running around my mind
She didn’t stay I couldn't make her
I'm not the making kind
And on those little scraps of paper
Is all that I should have said
What good are notes on fancy paper
When you leave them inside your head
Write it up
Send a postcard to your
Future selves to read
A tune may come
“Intunatively”
Introduce it to the words
Yeah I should have captured how I felt in song
'Cause I never showed her how I really felt and now she’s gone
Repeat Chorus
It’s all on little scraps of paper
(Little scraps, little scraps of paper)
Like 'Thanks To You', the idea for this song came back in 1990 Gregorian and lay as notes in the 'Haley/Coates' songbook for about 18 years, until it was resurected during sessions for 'The SubTles' project in 2008.
Basically the idea was, don't leave the things you want to say in your head. Get them out, write them down and tell them to the one concerned before it's too late :/
We recorded a basic live track in my home studio with drums, bass, guitar and a guide vocal, but that guide vocal was pretty bad and needs an overdub, so for now we've just got this little camper van demo. Maybe one day I'll get around to that overdub!
