Another one
In three six five
I'm awake
So I must be alive
No sign of sunrise yet
How long can one night get?
You're still in bed I'll bet
And so am I
Liquorice lights
In my room
All sorts of shade
Swallow perfume
No sign of us inside
Solo we can't get high
I think I'm asking why
And so are You
It's one of those days
One of those days
One of those days
No sign of us inside
Solo we can't get high
I think I'm asking why
Who are you?
Who am I?
Come with me
Don't be shy
So close and yet so far apart
(My aching heart)
Where did we start?
(Why should we part?)
So where are You?
Instrumental
It's been one of those days
One of those days
One of those days
One of those days
It's been one of those days
Not the best music ever, or the best recording! But the lyrics are cool. I like the plays on words; licourice (lights) and allsorts (of shade); and 'solo' (so low) we can't get high I hate licourice but 'Licourice Allsorts' were a kind of sweet (that's 'candy' in American English) when we were kids. And it is hard to get high when you're really low because you're on your own and can't be with the one you want to be with in that moment
We've all had those tough to get through days because of relationship stuff going on, dealing with the feelings is never easy, and the duet in this song aims to sum that up poetically
And so, forgiving the poor tape quality, this is more early 1990s Haley/Coates & Ultimate Shed nostalgia. If I had a time machine I'd get back there and buy these guys a DAT (Digital Audio Tape) machine!
