I need a break from Consciousness raising
I need a holiday from Spiritual growth
A long vacation from Self Realisation
A Get-away from where I awoke
I climbed so high then fell back down
From 'I am love' to 'In love I drown'
The kundalini activation
Left me like a love sick clown
I need to rest in a place of acceptance
What do I know? I'm just where I am
My body longs to rest in the moment
My mind is racing with wondering spam
Enlightenment is up for sale
With paid retreats so you can't fail
Like corporate workshops for your soul
Just pay our fees and we'll make you whole
Sometimes we come to a crossroads
And we don't know which way to go
Do we have to keep moving forward?
Or take a break at the side of the road
Don't you know that everyone's broken
The wounded healer won't leave us alone
Let's have a hug, you can Chiron my shoulder
And take a break at the side of the road
And take a break at the side of the road
Just take a break at the side of the road
Let's take a break at the side of the road
Whatever we're into and however well it's going we can often reach a point where we just need a break from it and to just 'Be' for a while.
The idea here was that this can even apply to 'The Journey Home' to the source, via spirituality, enlightenment and the raising of our consciousness. You can have too much of a good thing, but also get sick of the commoditisation of this 'Great Work' by those seeking to exploit the increasing interest in, and awakening to, this journey. As Bill Hicks might have said "that's a big dollar, the spiritual enlightenment dollar"
This was the mood I found myself in on that Scorpio♏ day and the lyrics flowed freely in no time at all. I'd become overloaded with the marketing of chargeable retreats and workshops online and the cynical, tongue in cheek side of my creativity took over. (I've done many online and in person workshops myself, but never for profit, always freely, sometimes voluntary contribution based, only seeking to cover any costs I might incur for the in person versions)
I combined this with a stab at my own spiritual journey. Years ago I read "The Way Of The Peaceful Warrior" by Dan Millman, and related to its message of raising up then falling back, raising up and falling back, again and again, and to keep going, but sometimes to take some time out.
When we come to a crossroads and we're not sure which way to go, we can take a break on the side of the road for a while...
