There were things that day I should have said

But I kept those things locked up inside my head

So you assumed the things I felt instead, but you guessed wrong

A thought unspoken is a thought unknown

In everybody's mind except your own

So speak your mind or you'll be left alone

With your unspoken thoughts

‘Cause the unspoken thought will haunt you

And the unspoken thought knows why

An unspoken thought means an outspoken lie

A thought unspoken is a thought unknown

In everybody's mind except your own

So speak your mind or you'll be left alone

With your unspoken thoughts

‘Cause the unspoken thought will haunt you

And the unspoken thought knows why

An unspoken thought means an outspoken lie

‘Cause the unspoken thought is wasted

And the unspoken thought knows why

An unspoken thought means an outspoken lie

The unspoken thought

The unspoken thought

The unspoken thought

The unspoken thought

The Story of 'The Unspoken Thought'

Music Is The Sound of Unspoken Thoughts

I've often thought things to myself without expressing them audibly for others to hear, often for those thoughts to then be expressed by someone else shortly afterwards. I don't know if it's a sort of precognition or if it happens to a lot of other people too. Alternatively I've often said things out loud that I probably shouldn't have with hindsight, so it would be good to have more awareness of social cues sometimes!

But the main idea as far as this song goes is in a romantic sense, of later having regret for not expressing something you should have told your loved one when you had the chance.

"Better out than in" as they say! So don't leave those thoughts of love unspoken and live to regret it...
