Underneath the window there's a Vase of flowers
that reMinds me of the hours since I've Been with You
I'm sitting and I'm thinking and just Watching petals falling
and Each one is calling me Back to You
Lying on the table there's a Daily paper
that's kinda Screamin out a headline that you Could have Wrote
I'm Glad it's just a paper not my Real situation
like I'm Reading in your writing, on this Love sick Note
Sounds like your missing me as Much as I'm missing you
Seems like a crazy thing to Do
I can't believe its good for Me, and betWeen these lines
you’re Telling me it Ain't no good for You
Underneath your window there's a Crumpled ball of paper
that's just a Hiding all the feelings that you Should have Shared
I Like to sit here thinking that I Know what's on that paper
and if You had sent it to me then I Wouldn't have Cared
You know I'm missing you as Much as your missing me
Seems like a crazy thing to Do
I can't believe its good for Me, and betWeen these lines
I’m Telling you it Ain't no good for You
Underneath the window there's a Faded leather suitcase
and a One way rail ticket that I Bought toDay
because I'm Sick of sitting here and Watching petals falling
so I'm Bringing you the flowers girl I'm On my Way
I'll be Underneath your window girl I'm On my Way
Another early exercise in song writing.
There was a band around at the time called 'Hothouse Flowers' and although I wasn't really into them too much I liked one of their tunes due to its bouncy style. So I tried writing a song in a similar style, with loads of words crammed in at a fast pace.
When I came to record this camper van demo many, many, many years later, I felt it would work better in a 'slower' country style, so that's what we have here.
