It don't take much
To stay in touch
With the real things
That life will bring
If you walk the talk
And keep it real
You can stay in touch
With the way you feel
Don't need no crutch
Yeah, it don't take much
Don't need no stuff
Got just enough
Right where we are
Six string guitars
Hit the tambourine
Know what I mean?
Use your hands as feet
To stomp a cajon beat
And the banjo's touch
Yeah, it don't take much
Instrumental
It don't take much to stay in touch, with the real things that life will bring
If you walk the talk and keep it real, you can stay in touch with the way you feel
Don’t need no crutch with the banjo’s touch, don’t need no stuff got just enough
Right where we are six string guitars, hit the tambourine know what I mean?
Use your hands as feet to stomp a cajon beat
Yeah, it don't take much
It don't take much
It don't take much
It don't take much
It don't take much!
This is one of a batch of four songs I came up with while I was on a road trip in June 2010 Gregorian with a couple of mates.
It was the first trial busking trip I did in the van abroad in Europe, and I enjoyed it so much that soon afterwards I hit the road for a longer trial through France, which resulted in my being on the road for over ten years!
The idea came from chatting with my mate, and fellow guitarist & Beatles fan, Andy (above). We both liked this phrase to describe how happy you can feel just doing Simple Things like jamming and busking. He also came up with his own song using this title!
We had a great time during that few days and it inspired me to do more.
The other songs of that batch were: Take Off Your Shoes And Open My Beer, Shut Up & Skin Up and Three On Two.
If you ever feel like you need a change and want to freshen things up I can highly recommend getting a camper van and hitting the road! You never know what might happen along the way, or where life may take you...
It don't take much!
